To process photography on a Linux machine requires more awareness and expertise of the OS v. OS X or even the Redmond abomination.

That, as you like to say, is horseshit. Clicking an icon is exactly the same no matter what OS you have chosen to use.

there's a *lot* more to processing images than clicking an icon.

if it were only that simple.

sid
Ok, click an icon and move some sliders. It's the same on all operating systems. You don't need any os expertise to do that.

What's that got to do with it? Using a mouse to click about is the same on osx, windows or linux why is that so difficult for you to grasp. There is no awareness or expertise of the os required to do that

what you fail to grasp is that on a mac or windows, what takes a click or two, takes all sorts of hoops on linux.

it's like saying using a typewriter and a word processing app are both the same because with both, you push the same keys.

one is *far* easier to use and more productive than the other.

camera raw is *far* more advanced than anything on linux, plus there are > many more choices too. if you don't like one raw converter, use another.

sid
What has that got to do with it?

if you want the best results you need to use the best tools, which are not available for linux. that's just how it is.
