flintThere was also a big to-doo a few years ago with another MS initiative...think they called it the Zune, or Plays for Sure, or wait, I think its now called "Certified for Windows Vista". Regardless, it illustrates that just because someone rolls out a new product, it doesn't mean that consumers will rush out and buy it. Even at Apple, where there's been 'underwhelmed' products such as the G4 Cube.

Which begs the question; why can't Android be a serious contender in this space?
Android is growing in this sector, but this isn't the point. =A0Win 8(ARM) is on its way, and even AMD's procs have been demo'd in a few models of upcoming Android and Win 8(x86) tablets at CES this week.

Was this ~2M sales figure reportedly for just Asus 7" tablets? Or was it for all 7" tablets (including Amazon's)? Etc.Besides, technically, it's the #1 tablet in the 7" tablet space (for the moment), but somehow I think Asus is going to upset that cart. Their track record so far in tablet space (in general) is pretty respectable.Sandmanflint
What are their sales figures? "respectable" is just another weasel word, you know.
Last figure I read was around 1.8-2 million units by the end of 2011.
So you think Apple will never consider a smaller, less costly iPad?Apple already has one: its called the "iPod Touch".
